4.3-10 RF Connector Migration Strategies

The NGMN 4.3-10 connector taskforce team worked out a 4.3-10 connector migration proposal for radio unit, antenna and antenna line devices, including migration scenarios and corresponding cable configuration strategies, and End of Life (EoL) proposal for the 7-16 connector, which will be stated in this white paper. This NGMN white paper serves as a guideline for 4.3-10 connector migration, which is expected to lead to less installation efforts, fewer site visits, less CAPEX and OPEX, and better planning for all involved parties.

Perspectives on Vertical Industries and Implications for 5G

This paper highlights the technical requirements for a number of selected use cases across the vertical industry and the external factors that need to be considered to make these use cases economically viable. In particular, use cases from the automotive, transport and logistics, health and wellness, smart cities and utilities, agriculture, media and entertainment and industrial IoT industries are described together with an assessment of roadmaps/ maturity, relevant telco roles, external dependencies, necessary capabilities and outlook. Common themes emerge in terms of the required capabilities to support the use cases, the relevant roles that telco operators could play and also external dependencies that must be taken into account.

5G Prospects – Key Capabilities to Unlock Digital Opportunities

To ensure that the capabilities delivered by 5G are meaningful and timely, this paper uncovers the mutual implications of technology and business drivers, highlighting the key capabilities that 5G must deliver, as well as key issues in realising the 5G vision as stipulated by the NGMN 5G White Paper. Insights are presented for the three major service categories, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low latency communications (uRLLC).

NGMN Perspectives on Vertical Industries and Implications for 5G

The NGMN 5G White Paper, published in February 2015, outlines, among other things, a wide range of use cases, and discusses the requirements or the required considerations and studies in enabling them. In order to fully realize a sustainable ecosystem, both technical and economic realities need to be carefully assessed. This includes a prominent focus on “Verticals” requirements of 5G, in growing interaction with, engagement of, and input from the Verticals industries. This paper highlights the technical requirements for a number of selected use cases across the vertical industry and the external factors that need to be addressed to make these use cases economically viable.

5G Security Recommendations Package #1

The NGMN 5G security group has identified 2 series of threats and described those through 9 key issues. The first series focuses on the Access Network, while the second focuses on DoS attacks scenarios that could emerge as IoT market greatly expands with 5G. Each of these key issues contains a description section that explains the problem and why it could have an impact in 5G. Thus, a recommendation section describes for each key issue a solution to address the problem.
