Architecture Principles agreed by NGMN P1-End-to-End Architecture Framework project
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussSince June 2016 the NGMN Requirements and Architecture E2E Architecture Framework group has been developing content for its E2E Architecture Framework. The initial stage is to discuss and agree on architecture principles which an E2E framework can be developed from.
5G Security – Mobile Edge Computing / Low Latency / Consistent User Experience
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThis document focuses on Mobile Edge Computing, Low Latency and Consistent User Experience.
Mobile Edge Computing and Low Latency allow providing new type services.
The NGMN 5G Security group studied the security threats, frauds and vulnerabilities that such concepts could introduce in 5G and provide security recommendations to mitigate them.
Update to NGMN Description of Network Slicing Concept
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThis document describes further details of Network Slicing including the Network slicing concept and definitions.
NGMN Paper on Edge Computing
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThis document describes further details of Edge Computing and identifies use cases, including those from the NGMN White Paper and 3GPP SA1 SMARTER study for 5G, where placement of compute functionality closer to or at the edge of the network could form part of the solution.
Perspectives on Vertical Industries and Implications for 5G
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThis paper highlights the technical requirements for a number of selected use cases across the vertical industry and the external factors that need to be considered to make these use cases economically viable. In particular, use cases from the automotive, transport and logistics, health and wellness, smart cities and utilities, agriculture, media and entertainment and industrial IoT industries are described together with an assessment of roadmaps/ maturity, relevant telco roles, external dependencies, necessary capabilities and outlook. Common themes emerge in terms of the required capabilities to support the use cases, the relevant roles that telco operators could play and also external dependencies that must be taken into account.
5G Prospects – Key Capabilities to Unlock Digital Opportunities
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussTo ensure that the capabilities delivered by 5G are meaningful and timely, this paper uncovers the mutual implications of technology and business drivers, highlighting the key capabilities that 5G must deliver, as well as key issues in realising the 5G vision as stipulated by the NGMN 5G White Paper. Insights are presented for the three major service categories, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), and ultra-reliable and low latency communications (uRLLC).
NGMN Perspectives on Vertical Industries and Implications for 5G
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThe NGMN 5G White Paper, published in February 2015, outlines, among other things, a wide range of use cases, and discusses the requirements or the required considerations and studies in enabling them. In order to fully realize a sustainable ecosystem, both technical and economic realities need to be carefully assessed. This includes a prominent focus on “Verticals” requirements of 5G, in growing interaction with, engagement of, and input from the Verticals industries. This paper highlights the technical requirements for a number of selected use cases across the vertical industry and the external factors that need to be addressed to make these use cases economically viable.
Recommendations for NGMN KPIs and Requirements for 5G
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThe NGMN Requirements and Architecture team (P1) has now completed its work on key performance metrics relevant to 3GPP TSG RAN SI “Scenarios and Requirements for Next Generation Access Technologies”. The attached document is a summary of the NGMN P1 recommendations.
5G Security Recommendations Package #1
//in 2016, Publications //by datenflussThe NGMN 5G security group has identified 2 series of threats and described those through 9 key issues. The first series focuses on the Access Network, while the second focuses on DoS attacks scenarios that could emerge as IoT market greatly expands with 5G. Each of these key issues contains a description section that explains the problem and why it could have an impact in 5G. Thus, a recommendation section describes for each key issue a solution to address the problem.
