6G Architecture and Migration Options – An Operator View
This publication examines candidate 6G architecture and migration options for the RAN and core network with the objective of narrowing choices early, minimising unnecessary complexity, and enabling a cost‑effective evolution from existing 5G networks. In particular, it discusses Multi‑RAT Spectrum Sharing (MRSS) as the primary migration mechanism, alongside alternative approaches such as Dual Connectivity and Dual Stack solutions, highlighting their respective benefits, risks, and implications for user experience, cost, and ecosystem impact.
