NGMN Alliance Adds New Board Members - Strengthening Global Reach

Frankfurt, Germany and London, UK May 26th 2009 – The Extraordinary General Meeting of the NGMN Alliance in Beijing, China this month, saw the appointment of new board members:

• Günther Ottendorfer, T-Mobile, Technical Director T-Mobile Germany
   
• Vicente San Miguel Maza, Telefonica, Global Chief Technology Officer
   
• Bruce Rodin, Bell Canada, Vice President Wireless Technology
   
• Sandro Dionisi, Telecom Italia, Head of Telecom Italia Lab
  

These additions replace retiring board members and increase the NGMN Board members from nine to eleven. The growth in the number of board seats reflects the increasing membership base of the NGMN Alliance, which already consists of 57 world leading global network operators, technology vendors and universities.

Chairman of the NGMN Alliance Vivek Badrinath (EVP Networks, Carriers, Platforms and Infrastructure, France Telecom) congratulated the newly appointed board directors: "The NGMN Alliance is established as a key player in the mobile industry with major achievements in the areas of Technology, IPR, Spectrum. Adding new Board Members is clearly increasing the global reach of the Alliance. I'm convinced that we will continue our track record in the years ahead. Our work programme is ensuring the successful launch of next generation mobile networks by focusing on device availability, trial support and co-ordination, as well as maintaining the focus on operational and environmental efficiency".
