ORGANISATION
NGMN Partners
NGMN is an open alliance founded by leading mobile network operators to provide a vision for technology evolution beyond 3G for the competitive delivery of mobile broadband services. NGMN seeks to incorporate the views of all interested stakeholders in the telecommunications industry and is open to three categories of participants (NGMN Partners): Mobile network operators (Members), vendors/manufacturers (Sponsors), and universities or non-industrial research institutes (Advisors). Each of these Partner categories has different rights as laid down in the
NGMN Articles of Association and the
NGMN Participation Guidelines
Board of NGMN Ltd.
The NGMN Alliance is constituted through NGMN Ltd. and headed by a board of directors (Board). As NGMN is an operator-driven initiative, Board membership is restricted to mobile network operators. The Board gives strategic guidance for the NGMN objectives and the NGMN Work Programme and represents the ultimate decision authority within NGMN. The Board is chaired by one of the directors of the Board.
Operating Officer, Programme Office
The NGMN Operating Officer is appointed by the Board and is responsible for achieving the overall NGMN objectives and the execution of the NGMN Work Programme on an operational level. He/She reports to the Board and is a member of the Board. In addition, a PROGRAMME OFFICE has been established to facilitate collaboration of the NGMN Partners, to manage the NGMN Work Programme and to take care of press relations and administrative tasks. The NGMN Programme Office is headed by the Operating Officer.
Operating Committee (OC)
The NGMN Operating Committee (OC) consists of representatives from each NGMN Member (operators) and steers the NGMN Work Programme following the guidance and directions from the Board. The OC acts as a pre-approval body for the Board to ratify new working groups and projects and ensure high-quality deliverables from the NGMN Work Programme. The OC is chaired by the Operating Officer.
Partner Forum
The NGMN Partner Forum consists of the Operating Committee plus representatives from each Sponsor and Advisor. The Partner Forum acts as a consultative plenary body to coordinate the collaboration between Members, Sponsors and Advisors and to provide assistance to the Operating Committee and the Operating Officer in managing the NGMN Work Programme.
Working Groups, Projects
The NGMN Work Programme is executed through a number of working groups and projects which are initiated and supervised by the Operating Committee and approved by the Board. The NGMN Work Programme is guided by a structured process with clearly defined procedures to initiate, produce, approve and disseminate NGMN deliverables which are required to achieve the NGMN objectives.
